Peter’s love for the sea and boating was ignited in the picturesque town of Port Alfred, where he spent every summer at his family’s holiday home. It was during his time skippering vessels that he realised the great importance of watercraft users having the correct tools for the job. “I want to design vessels that simply put, look and function as if they were actually meant to do ‘that’, whatever ‘that’ might be”.
He is from a family with a multi-generational tradition of graduating from the historical University of the Witwatersrand. It is widely considered the top engineering school in the Southern Hemisphere, and the only one on the African continent with an accredited undergraduate aeronautical engineering degree. It is here where Peter completed his BSc (Eng) in Aeronautical Engineering, graduating at the top of his class. According to him, “There is no better-accredited engineering degree than aeronautical to learn fluid dynamics, and lightweight steel and composite structural design, key ingredients to any successful vessel, be it air or waterborne”.
Peter also holds a Diploma with distinction in Naval Architecture, which he completed as a postgraduate with North Kent College and Lloyd’s Maritime Academy and is currently an Associate member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and hopes to register as a professional engineer with the UK Engineering Council in 2024.
